The LAD 13 is a powerful low cost high speed Analog-Digital conversion card. It belongs to the ABACO® industrial range. This card is equipped with 2 independent 12 bits A/D converter sections which are based on two DAS (Data Acquisition System) Multi-Range MAX 197, for a total of 16 analog inputs. Each section converts one of the 8 input lines on the two standard ABACO® 20 pins connectors, for analog signals.

The LAD 13 card is the ideal component for those applications where low cost , large number of signals to be acquired and very high speed conversion are required. If the number of signals to be acquired is over to the maximum the card can manages directly, it may be useful to increase the number of A/D converter cards rather than put a multiplexing unit before the said A/D card. It is worth to point out that if there is a very large number of acquisition lines to be managed, it can be more convenient to reach the max conversion time, for the whole lines, by using cards having a Sampling-Rate considerably lower. For example under the economic and technical point of view, is more convenient to use various LAD 12 cards for getting the number of lines to be acquired, rather than get the same number of lines and total acquisition time by multiplexing a card that uses a faster A/D converter.

On LAD 13 there are two LEDs, software manageable, which display status and/ or activity and two additional ones which display both the end of conversion and generation of the Interrupt signal as regards the external CPU.

The most important feature of LAD 13 is to be Multi-Range and it allows, just by a simple software set, to acquire input signals which have differents features among them. On this cards there are two 8 pin sockets on which it is possible to mount the precision resistances in order to quickly specialize, each of the 16 tension inputs, into inputs for acquiring from external 0÷20mA or 4÷20mA.

As option it is possible to get an alluminium front panel (3HE or 4TE) that allows to get an additional protection of the card and a definitely safe fixing of the same by means of two special screws.
